Sunrise Over the Bay

Suddenly the  skyline is lit up  in a flare

The waves on the bay ripple in its glare

I sit in vajrasan and in line with my eyes

A  refulgent  edge  emerges  with  a flair.

A big red disc comes to sit on the quay

As it rises from the far end of the bay

I am awestruck by its voluminous aura

While its glow spreads all over the bay.

The city is waking up from the slumber

I can see a  silhouette  stodgily  lumber

Along the beach in late January Tampa

True to sunshine state the sky is umber!

I see mass of water swelling before me

A bottleneck rises up clucking with glee

It's a dolphin come up to breathe & play

And bask in the glory of the sun for free.

It seems gamesome like all the dolphins

But its fun-size looks like a doll with fins!

I now hear the rumble of a  tractor trailer

Looks like morning is going  in  tailspins!

माह ए आसमां  मेरे  अन्दर  समा   जाओ

रोशन  करो  आके  मेरी  रूह  बन  जाओ

तुम्हें देखूं दमकता मैं , बाहर भी अन्दर भी

तुम्हीं मेरी मुहब्बत के, किरदार बन  जाओ।

तुम्हें  देखता  जब  भी , दिल  शाद  होता  है

तन्हाई  में मिलकर  जिगर  आबाद  होता  है

कैसे  बताऊं  तुमको और  क्या क्या होता है

तुम्हारे  नूर  में  धुलके , चेहरा  पाक  होता है।

तुम्हीं  मेरे  सूनेपन से  मुझको तार  देते  हो

तुम्हीं मेरे अकेलेपन में मुझको प्यार देते हो

जब तुम नहीं होते हो,  रातें  कहर  ढाती हैं

तुम्हीं भय की ज़ंजीरों को मेरी काट देते  हो।

तुम्हीं मेरे कलन्दर हो अब ये मान  लेता हूं

तुम्हीं मेरी मुहब्बत हो अब ये जान लेता हूं

बिना तेरी रज़ा के कुछ भी हो नहीं सकता

ये  फ़ैसला   अपनाकर    सनद   लेता   हूं।

तुम्हें मैं आज़मा लूं ऐसा मेरा जी करता है

नज़रिया परखनेका  बदल दूं जी करता है

दुनियां तो ऐसा करने को मीज़ान बनती है

मैं  आंखों  में  बसा  लूं  ऐसा  जी करता है।

माहे  आसमां   मेरे  अन्दर  समा  जाओ

आसमान का चांद। शाद= ख़ुश। कलंदर=

 दरवेश। सनद= प्रमाण। मीज़ान= तराजू।

आख़िर किसके लिए

आख़िर किसके  लिए लिखता  हूं ये  नग़मे मिरे

वो ही न  जिसकी  आवाज़  से इबादत आती है।

मेरा दिल ही  मेरा आईना  बन गया है अब  तो

जब  देखता हूं उसी  की  सूरत नज़र आती  है।

कभी मिल जाए  तो कदमों में  दुआ  कर लेना

अगर  लगे आंखों में जुगनू की झलक आती है।

पास से गुज़रती हवा  को कभी छू  लिया करना

वो महक बांटने  को ही इधर से  चलके आती है।

चांद को देखा है कभी तारों से भरी रात के बीच

जब भरी बारात में चांदनी उसे छोड़ के आती है।

ठीक है तारे फ़र्ज़ निभाते हैं, सम्हालते हैं उसको

पर उसके संग में तो ख़ामोशी ही नज़र आती है।

दर्द में पैबन्द लगाने से दर्द  ठीक नहीं हो जाता

लबों की बात तो आंखों में  छलक ही आती है।

वैसे दर्द आएं तो मायूस न हो जाना ऐ मेरे दिल

उसका निज़ाम है , दवा कोई चली ही आती हैं।

हार जब आती  है तो कुछ, सिखा भी जाती है

ठोकर खाने के  बाद राह, निकल भी आती है।

हैरान न होना पत्थरों के भी दिल हुआ करते हैं

कभी पाओगे कि  पत्थरों से  सदा भी आती है।

कितनी-कितनी  दफ़ा बिका  हूं मीठे  बोलों पर 

अब कोई मुस्कुराता है , इक याद चली आती है।

इतने बड़े  जहान में  कोई तो होगा  चाहने वाला 

अंधेरों की पर्तों में से  किरन निकल भी आती है।

कभी इतना मायूस भी न होना कि सांस टूट जाए

जुस्तजू क़ायम रहे तो मंज़िल भी चलके आती है।

ज़िन्दगी तो दरिया है, गिरदाब आया ही करते हैं

उसकी नज़रे करम हो तो कश्ती निकल आती है।

वो फ़रिश्ता था उसको आदमी समझ लिया गया

मगर याद तो आदमी की फ़रिश्ता बनके आती है।

इबादत= पूजा। इल्तिज़ा= प्रार्थना। निज़ाम= 

बंदोबस्त। सदा= आवाज़। जुस्तजू= तलाश।

गिरदाब= भंवर।

a parent and a daughter!

If  one has a  doctor at his  first  call

And  has the  nurser at the  next call

Well, it looks  like he  calls the shots!

May be, he is  a Paul or  a de  Gaulle!

If one call gets both, doctor & nurser

And the duo shows regard & fervour

Who is this lucky guy? Well, a parent!

Who once was her teacher  &  nurser!

ये मज़ाक नहीं है।

कभी वो रह सकता है भला , मेरे बगैर क्या?

मेरी जुदाई में उसे ज़माने का डर लग रहा है।

वो कितना चाहता है, मुझ पर कुरबान होना

मगर उसे डर है ये औरों को बुरा लग रहा है।

लोगों को न लगता होगा अच्छा क़तई ये कि

जिस शिद्दत से वो अकेले में , मिलता रहा है।

मुझसे मिल के उसको मिली है, मसर्रत इतनी

मेरी याद में वो सितारों के नीचे जगता रहा है।

उसकी मासूमियत को मैं किस तरह बयां करूं

जिस तरह बे-लौस वो ख़्वाबों में आता रहा है!

मुझे डर है तो बस इस बात का, मेरी वजह से

उसे किन हालात से दरपेश , होना पड़ रहा है।

ख़फ़ा होना उसके ज़ेहन में समा नहीं सकता

बरसों जो मेरे हाथों में ख़ुद को सौंपता रहा है।

मेरी तन्हाई की बाबत आज इस जगह पे ये

मेरा दिल साफ़गोई से यह बयान कर रहा है।

मेरी तन्हाई रिहान के माफ़िक , मुतबर्रिक है

इसलिए ये तब्सिरा बेसाख़्ता हुए जा रहा है।

शिद्दत= लग्न से। मसर्रत= ख़ुशी। दरपेश=

सामना। ज़ेहन= दिमाग। रिहान= तुलसी। 

मुतबर्रिक= पवित्र। तब्सिरा= खुलासा।

बेसाख़्ता= अनायास। बे-लौस= बेझिझक।

Happy New Year! Eh, Happy New Year!

How sweet the words sound to the ear!

We have lived with the old so long that

We are eager to welcome the New Year!

We hope the New Year will bring for us

What we missed as we missed our bus.

The New Year comes to help us reboot

Our stance, to better our focus on locus.

We are hosts to many extreme passions

Eating into our being, initiating fractions.

The New Year day is rememberance day

To recapitulate some forgotten  lessons.

Let's get inside us to peep unto our own

To own the magnificence that's our own!

It is a dimension of  intrinsic  magnitude

You will be surprised to see it's your own!

In between , there is  a  layer of thoughts

Sit silently & keep watching the thoughts

Your gaze would turn all of them goosey!

A dazzle issues with the exit of thoughts!

This  dazzle is the dazzle of  Universality

This is the dazzle of vitality and geniality

You come to realize YOU  are this dazzle!

And that this is the dazzle of immortality!

ख़ुश आमदीद!

ख़ुशामदीद ख़ैरमक़दम , खुशामदीद ख़ैरमक़दम!

साले बाईस ए सदी ए इक्कीस, ख़ुर्रम ख़ैरमक़दम!

ऐ साल ए नौख़ेज़, मुबारक हों हमें आपके क़दम

बख़्श दें हमें वो सब अब तक था जिसका अदम।

बहुत देखी है तबाही , बहुत घर जले हैं अब तक

ऐसा कुछ करदें सब चलने लगें , होके हम-क़दम।

क्या कुछ ज़ियादह मांग रहा हूं मेरे मेहरबां साथी 

यही तो मांगा है, क़दम मिलें तो हों साबित-क़दम।

क्या हर्ज़ है कि सारे शिकवे गिलाओं को छोड़के

हर कोई गले मिलने लग जाए सबसे, दम ब दम।

हर किसी मज़हब का, सारे जहान में, मेरे हमदम

एक ही तो ख़ालिक है जिसके हैं हम सभी ख़दम।

सब को दस्तरस हों ख़ुशबू और खुशियों के मंज़र

अहले दुनिया को  दस्तयाब हों नायाब  दम-क़दम।

ख़ुशामदीद= स्वागत है। ख़ैरमक़दम= शुभ आगमन।

साले बाईस ए सदी ए इक्कीस= इक्कीसवीं सदी का

बाईसवां साल। ख़ुर्रम= खुशनुमा।

साल ए नौख़ेज़= नव वर्ष। अदम= अभाव।

हम-क़दम= साथ साथ। साबित-क़दम= द्रढ़।

दम ब दम= हर पल। ख़ालिक= स्रष्टा।

ख़दम= ख़ादिम। दस्तरस= पहुंच में होना।

अहले दुनिया= दुनिया के लोग। नायाब= अनोखा।

दस्तयाब= प्राप्त। दम-क़दम= स्वास्थ्य और शक्ति।
