I TOO LOVE GOLD

I too love gold, and all its glitter
Glow of its flame and the flicker.

I too love its yellowsome flush
That sends all maidens to blush.

But my gold doesn't add to bullions
Nor is it sought by crowds of millions.

Nor does it turn any big heads
Mounted onto wearisome legs.

It doesn't break people's hearts
As when they make false starts

My gold is not cold, as bullion gold
As it smiles, it keeps you on hold.

It warms the cockles of your heart
Even before you cross your heart.

It talks to me when I am prone
To sad thoughts and by me, alone.

It touches my thoughts benignly
As it caresses my cheeks lovingly.

My gold can hold you in its hold
Before you know you're in its hold.

Look! I don't buy, I grow my gold
As it makes me merry, it's marigold!

Temples can be built of bullion gold
But fragrance comes from marigold.

Mary's gold was christened marigold
Now I grow marigold like mera gold.

Om Shantih
